Old basford history
WebbBasford was enclosed in 1792 when the tithes were commuted for land worth £120 p.a. By 1831 the value was £260 including 150 acres of glebe land, nearly all of which had been sold by 1902, much of it as the site for Bagthorpe Workhouse. WebbBasford had a Wesleyan Methodist chapel opposite St. Mark's Church on Basford Park Road. Built by 1902, it was demolished in the early 2000s and the site was redeveloped with apartments. Literary associations. The writer H. G. Wells lived in Basford from March to June 1888 while convalescing from illness.

WebbOld Basford is an area of Nottingham located next to New Basford being split by Valley Road/Western Boulevard. The parish church of St Leodegarius was built in the 12th century. The north aisle and north arcade were rebuilt in 1858–59 and the church restored, except for the tower.
