WebMost likely its because you're running in optimus mode where the GPU is fed through the AMD cpu (and the AMD integrated graphics chip) so you'd need to change the settings via the AMD software. To get access to the nvidia g-sync settings youd have to enable DGPU mode in synapse. This way the nvidia gpu gets directly connected to the screen. WebFreesync and g sync compatible are the same. G sync is with a module that alters the overdrive based on the refresh rate. Big thing is that the 27gl850 overdrive settings have huge coverage for normal and Fast so g sync for it is kinda excessive unlike say other monitors where it fluctuates a lot.
