WebJan 29, 2024 · Scope: This standard defines the criteria for the application and testing of diesel-generator units used as Class 1E standby power supplies in nuclear power generating stations. Figure 1 shows the boundaries of systems and equipment included in the scope of this standard. WebClass 1E loads must be separated into redundant divisions; they can’t rely on each other to perform their protective function; multiple load groups (or battery chargers) can share a common power source if the consequences of losing it during a DBE are acceptable; and finally, no DBE should be able to cause a redundant power source to fail.
